It takes larger breed cats longer to grow to full maturity.
For normal breeds it takes two full years to become full adults. This isn't the same for all breeds. Maine Coons take five years and Norwegian Forest Cats take six years. If you ever get the chance to compare a 3 month old Weggie with almost any other cat you'd see they can sometimes be two-three times bigger. There are benefits to longer adolescent period. These larger breeds keep their kitten play drive much longer than the average seven months it takes a normal cat to become a young adult. Enjoy it while it lasts.
